historic working awards

In over 100 years of existence, the club has been gifted some beautiful perpetual trophies for worthy member winners of various show and working events.
However due to changes in voluntary personnel over the years, records and memories can be sketchy to say the least! The working awards were not well documented meaning some of our most valuable and historically meaningful trophies have 'disappeared', as discovered during an audit in 2012. In 2013 our now Club Secretary, Irene Davison and her husband Brian, began repairing, cleaning, photographing and recording past winners of some of our trophies from 1909 and produced the "Club History in Field Trials" documents which are lovely pieces of reference. In 2014 Irene started researching old club records, year books and member knowledge of the working side trophies. This research has shown that some of the trophies had been gifted for specific events which in past years has been overlooked; and the Secretary began the long process of combing through year books, obituaries and other records to try and get these awards back to their rightful events. Attey Memorial Trophy - currently Two Day Open Field Trial No. 4 - Winners of Col. Lord Joicey D.S.O. Memorial Trophy - was Ford Novice No. 5 - Winners of J. Upton Smith Memorial Trophy - currently Eggleston Fell Open Test No. 6 - Winners of Dunidea Plate - was Wemmergill Novice Guns Choice No. 7 - Winners of The Col. J.W. Sale Tankard - currently Two Day Open - Guns Choice No. 8 - Winners of N&D LRC Guns Choice Tankard - was Ford Novice Trial No. 9 - Winners of The Vice Chairman's Cup - currently Winner Open Test No. 10 Normanby Cup No. 11 Winners of The Wolviston Cup - currently Stretalam Park Open Test Winner No. 12 Winners of Windlestone Trophy - was Wemmergill Novice Trial Winner We have many other trophies that are awarded but the above are the most historic in existence for Working event awards. |
