On the 25th April 2015 we held a seminar at Croft Veterinary Hospital, Northumberland
The morning session with refreshments, welcomed people to a talk by Dr Tom Lewis - The science behind Mate Select and population genetics principles and covered topics around Estimated Breeding Values and Inbreeding Coefficients. Everyone attending thoroughly enjoyed the session which was extremely informative.
Participants were then provided with a lovely hot lunch which was very good! After which we proceeded to the afternoon session; a talk by the breeds' leading historian
Richard Edwards on the Early Development of the Labrador.
Richard has been invited to give this talk as far afield as Australia and we were delighted that he agreed to join us for what was an enthralling afternoon. Helped also by the afternoon tea and cake! Richard was presented with a small gift of our appreciation.
Thank you to everyone who came along and many thanks for the very kind comments on the content of the day which was, as expected, enlightening and good humoured. Some of our attendees comments are below.

Lesley Dantinnes The whole day was excellent, the committee deserve a big pat on the back for organising such an event and the speakers were both superb. I left with so much to digest and think about, thank you. |
Natasha Bujnoch Thank you for arranging! Two very interesting talks which I thoroughly enjoyed - Lovely to meet everyone and catch up. |
Wynfaul Labradors It was indeed a most interesting and informative day. I don't know how financially viable the attendance made the event, but I do hope the committee are not deterred from staging other such events - thank to all involved in making the day happen. |
